The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is seeking views on employment rights for unpaid carers and parents of seriously ill children, as part of the ongoing implementation of the Employment Rights Act.
The consultation is exploring whether further support is needed for unpaid carers, including the information and guidance currently available, where gaps exist and what additional measures could help employees balance caring responsibilities with work.
The proposals could lead employers to review policies relating to carers' leave, time off for dependants and flexible working, ensuring they are prepared for any future changes or expansion of employment rights.
Members are encouraged to review the consultation and share any views with James Vickery to help inform the BVRLA's response. The consultation closes on 1 September.
