The BVRLA Leasing Broker Conference welcomed a growing audience to Coventry on 8 October, with delegate attendance increasing by 10% year-on-year and the number of leasing brokers represented rising by 18%.
The conference brought together more than 250 delegates to explore the changing vehicle market, customer expectations, regulatory challenges and the future of broker-led mobility.
BVRLA Chief Executive Toby Poston opened proceedings by highlighting how member feedback is shaping the association's work. The role of the Leasing Broker Committee was also in focus, with Chair Vince Pemberton and fellow committee members discussing current priorities and how brokers can influence the support and representation they receive. Thomas McLennan and Alphabet's Richard Chadwick explored how stronger industry data can demonstrate the sector's growth and importance.
Changing customer behaviour featured throughout the day. Autotrader's Marc Palmer examined the increasingly crowded vehicle market, while other sessions explored the customer journey, building lasting relationships and the importance of combining technology with personal service. Jurni Leasing's Nickie Brooks also shared experiences and lessons from her career in the automotive sector.
Practical business challenges were another focus, with sessions covering the growing influence of AI on online visibility, vehicle security and emerging compliance issues. Delegates heard from industry specialists on how brokers can adapt to changing expectations, manage risk and strengthen their businesses.
Former professional footballer and broadcaster Tony Cascarino closed the conference with an entertaining keynote exploring teamwork, leadership and performing under pressure, drawing parallels between professional sport and business.
Feedback from delegates reflected the breadth of the programme, with networking opportunities, practical insights and the chance to exchange experiences with industry peers among the recurring themes.
Comments included:
- “I definitely came away with a few new ideas, some useful insight and an even longer list of things to investigate when I’m back in the office!”
- “Great people. Great conversations. Great industry.”
- “Plenty of important insights and thought-provoking discussions.”
The feedback also highlighted the value of hearing directly from other brokers, with many delegates identifying ideas and approaches to take back into their businesses.
The BVRLA would like to again extend its thanks to the delegates, speakers and:
