BLOG: Testing EV battery health

As the used electric vehicle market matures, reliable information about battery condition is becoming increasingly important for vehicle valuations, residual value risk and customer confidence.

In the latest BVRLA blog, Patrick Schabus, Chief Technical Officer at associate member AVILOO, explains why reading the information supplied by a vehicle is not the same as conducting an independent diagnostic test. He considers how average battery-pack figures can conceal the condition of individual cells and why the source of battery health data matters.

The blog also looks at the role independent testing can play during fleet handover, lease return and remarketing, helping operators make informed decisions and provide greater reassurance to subsequent owners.

AVILOO also took part in a battery health podcast last month, see Latest Inside Track explores battery health for more information and a link to listen.
