To help members understand the Department for Transport (DfT)’s consultation and what it means for leasing and rental businesses, the BVRLA has prepared a new member briefing and arranged a webinar to talk through the consultation. Materials cover the potential impact of the review and the areas where member evidence will help shape the association's response.

The webinar on Wednesday 2 September, from 10:30 – 11:15, will examine the review of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate and what it could mean for the sector.

The session will outline:

  • the key areas under review
  • what members need to know
  • how the BVRLA is engaging with government on behalf of the sector.

In addition to an update from the BVRLA team, members will hear from a representative of the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), providing insight into the review and the government’s approach.

The webinar will explore member input gathered via workshops and engagements through the year, as well as a survey that is open for member input until Monday 7 September.

There will be an opportunity for members to put questions to the speakers during the session.

The briefing provides an overview of the options being considered for the ZEV Mandate, including potential changes to the 2030 car and van targets, what vehicles could continue to be sold as new from 2030, and possible changes to the flexibilities available to manufacturers.

It also looks at the treatment of plug-in hybrids and highlights why the different options could have implications for vehicle supply, pricing and residual values across the leasing and rental sectors.
