The first megawatt-scale eHGV charging hub has now opened in the UK, with a new site in the East Midlands helping to charge up Kuehne+Nagel’s growing electric truck fleet.

The new site has been opened as part of the eFREIGHT 2030 consortium, a group of eHGV manufacturers, fleet operators, and eHGV charging providers who are helping to drive adoption in the sector forward.

Initially, the new charging hub will support 12 electric trucks within Kuehne+Nagel’s fleet, ensuring they can be charged in record time.

Voltempo powers UK’s first megawatt-scale eHGV charging hub at Kuehne+Nagel - Voltempo.

The Government currently has an open consultation - Consultation on a New Heavy Goods Vehicle CO2 Emissions Regulatory Framework for the United Kingdom - and is seeking views on regulatory options to reduce emissions from new heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

The Government has also confirmed its commitment to the previously announced phase out dates of 2035 for the sale of new non-zero emission HGVs weighing up to and including 26 tonnes, and 2040 for all new non-zero emission HGVs.

The consultation closes on Tuesday 17 March. The BVRLA encourages members to share their views with the team. To provide input into the BVRLA consultation response, or to ask any questions contact [email protected].
