BVRLA members will have direct access to HM Treasury and DVLA officials on Thursday 1 October, with a dedicated webinar and workshops on the proposed implementation of Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED).
The sessions have been arranged following the BVRLA's engagement with Government on the potential impact of eVED on the fleet sector and the need for members to understand and help shape how it could work in practice. All sessions are free and exclusively for BVRLA members.
The programme on Thursday 1 October will include:
- 11am–12pm, webinar for all members: HM Treasury will provide an update on the eVED consultation outcome and proposed flexibilities for fleets. DVLA will outline its preparations for implementation, including a demonstration of the Fleet Management Service webpage. The session is designed to help members understand and prepare for the proposed changes.
- 12.30pm–2pm, workshop for leasing members: An interactive technical session with DVLA exploring how eVED could work in practice for leasing businesses.
- 2.30pm–4pm, workshop for rental members: An interactive technical session with DVLA focusing on the operational implications for rental businesses.
The workshops will explore areas including mileage estimation, payments, de-fleeting and mileage top-ups. Members will be able to raise potential challenges directly with DVLA and discuss practical solutions. The BVRLA will continue its engagement on eVED, with direct member input helping to ensure Government departments understand the operational implications for the sector.
The association's position remains that eVED is the wrong tax at the wrong time, and its recent Budget submission called on the Chancellor to rethink the policy. However, with implementation currently planned from April 2028, members also need to understand and prepare for what the proposals could mean for their businesses and customers.
