The Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland have relaunched their ‘Drive on the Left’ campaign ahead of the peak tourist season, reminding overseas visitors to take extra care when driving on Scotland’s roads.
The initiative is aimed at drivers from countries where vehicles travel on the right-hand side of the road and highlights the importance of remaining alert, particularly on rural routes, single-track roads and at junctions and roundabouts. The campaign also encourages drivers to ensure they are well-rested to avoid reverting to familiar driving habits.
A range of campaign materials are available to support the initiative, including multilingual wristbands, posters, leaflets, videos and resources designed to help visitors understand the key differences when driving in Scotland.
Members operating in the rental and tourism sectors may wish to make use of the available resources to help promote safe driving among overseas customers during the busy summer period.
Further information, including access to campaign materials, is available through the Road Safety Scotland stakeholder toolkit.
