The BVRLA has opened nominations for its 2027 Industry Hero Awards, introducing three new categories to recognise the individuals and teams making an outstanding contribution across the vehicle rental, leasing and fleet sectors. The annual awards celebrate the industry's unsung heroes, shining a light on those whose dedication, initiative and achievements can often go unrecognised beyond their own organisations.

The refreshed format is designed to make the awards more accessible and relevant to the full breadth of BVRLA membership, encouraging nominations from businesses of all sizes and across every part of the sector. The awards are again sponsored by Close Brothers.

Three new categories have been introduced for 2027:

  • Rental Hero – recognising an outstanding individual or small team working in or supporting the vehicle rental sector.
  • Leasing Hero – celebrating an individual or small team making a difference in the leasing or leasing broker sector.
  • Customer Hero – open to all BVRLA member businesses, recognising exceptional contributions to customer service, relationships, compliance or raising industry standards.

Each category is open to people who stand out through their performance, commitment, fresh thinking or willingness to go above and beyond. The awards are specifically intended to recognise those outside senior leadership positions, including frontline employees and colleagues working behind the scenes.

Toby Poston, BVRLA Chief Executive, said: "Some of the most valuable contributions to our sector come from people whose names rarely appear in the spotlight. They are the colleagues solving problems, looking after customers and finding better ways of doing things every day.

"We want these awards to reach right across our membership, from the largest leasing companies to the smallest rental operators, as well as the suppliers that keep things moving. Every business has people worth celebrating, we want to hear their stories."

The nomination process has been kept deliberately simple. Members are invited to complete a short online form outlining why their chosen individual or team deserves recognition, with a panel of senior BVRLA representatives judging entries blind.

Nominations are open until 18:00 on Friday 8 January 2027. Finalists will be announced later in January, with the three winners revealed at the BVRLA Annual Dinner on Wednesday 24 February 2027.

Members can nominate their Industry Hero (or Heroes) via the online form, where further information about the awards and entry criteria is available.
