HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has published updated anti-money laundering (AML) guidance for businesses it supervises under the Money Laundering Regulations.
The guidance has been consolidated into a single manual covering all HMRC-supervised sectors and reflects changes that came into force on 30 June 2026. It is structured in three parts, covering core regulatory obligations, sector-specific guidance, and information on money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing risks.
Members supervised by HMRC are encouraged to review the updated guidance and ensure their risk assessments, policies, controls, procedures and staff training remain aligned with the latest requirements.
HMRC has advised that the previous AML guidance remains available on GOV.UK for the time being but is no longer in effect and will be removed in the coming weeks. Members should therefore refer to the new consolidated guidance going forward.
