National Highways is relaunching its TRIP campaign on 10 July, encouraging drivers to start long journeys well rested and having planned regular breaks.
As the summer holidays begin, many drivers will be travelling to airports, holiday destinations and family days out, often outside their usual routines or in vehicles unfamiliar to them.
National Highways figures show that 20% of fatal and serious collisions, where fatigue was identified as a contributing factor, happen in July and August. Two thirds occur between 7pm and 7am.
Members dealing with motorists directly can access more details of the campaign below and via the National Highways website.
