BVRLA members have a final opportunity to register for Thursday's dedicated eVED sessions with HM Treasury and DVLA. A webinar and two sector-specific workshops will provide an update on the proposals and an opportunity to discuss how they could work in practice.
Taking place on Thursday 1 October, the free member-only programme has been arranged following BVRLA engagement with Government on the impact of Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) on the fleet sector.
The day will include:
- 11am–12pm, webinar for all members: HM Treasury will provide an update on the eVED consultation outcome and proposed flexibilities for fleets, while DVLA will outline its preparations and demonstrate the Fleet Management Service webpage.
- 12.30pm–2pm, workshop for leasing members: An interactive technical discussion exploring the practical implications of eVED for leasing businesses.
- 2.30pm–4pm, workshop for rental members: A separate technical session focused on the operational implications for rental businesses.
The workshops will give members direct access to DVLA to discuss areas including mileage estimation, payments, de-fleeting and mileage top-ups, raise potential challenges and explore practical solutions. Member input will also help inform the BVRLA's continuing engagement with Government as preparations develop.
The association continues to make the case that eVED is the wrong tax at the wrong time. With implementation currently planned from April 2028, the sessions will also help members understand what they may need to prepare for if the policy proceeds.
