eVED campaign continues

The BVRLA would like to thank all members who responded to the Government's electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) consultation. Following the publication of the Government's response last week, HM Treasury has begun contacting individual respondents directly.

As outlined by the BVRLA last week, the consultation outcome included a number of policy changes that will reduce the administrative burden of eVED for fleet, rental and leasing operators. However, the association remains concerned about the planned introduction of eVED in 2028 and will continue to press Government to reconsider its approach.

The immediate focus is the lack of a refund mechanism for overpaid eVED. The BVRLA has re-launched its ‘Write to your MP campaign’ and is encouraging members to take part. The previous campaign generated strong engagement from MPs, helping to raise awareness of the challenges eVED could create for businesses and motorists.

Members interested in helping to shape the practical operation of eVED are also invited to register their interest in taking part in a DVLA pilot to test the new systems. To find out more, or to volunteer for the pilot, contact [email protected].
