The BVRLA has announced a number of changes to its leadership and compliance responsibilities following the departure of Legal and Compliance Director Shashi Maharaj at the end of July.
After joining the BVRLA in 2020, Shashi led the development of the association's legal, governance and compliance capabilities, supporting members through a period of significant regulatory and industry change. The BVRLA thanks him for his contribution and wishes him every success for the future.
Shashi’s role has not been replaced and the association has taken the opportunity to realign the BVRLA’s Compliance and Governance function. Chief Financial Officer Jason Brown has taken on the role of Company Secretary and will take over responsibility for the teams delivering the association’s inspection and alternative dispute resolution services. IT Director Michael Skinner has assumed responsibility as Data Protection Officer.
This week the BVRLA has welcomed Mark George, who joins Jason’s team as Head of Rental Governance and Compliance. Mark has a wealth of project management and compliance experience, most recently with the British Council and Ofgem. He will work closely with Head of Leasing Compliance and Governance, Hayleigh Morris.
