The Department for Transport (DfT) has set out a people-focused vision for how transport across England will evolve to become more connected, accessible and reliable.

The ‘Better Connected: A Strategy for Integrated Transport’ strategy outlines a series of priorities and funded commitments aimed at improving how journeys are planned and delivered. This includes investment in digital tools, data sharing and integrated systems. The strategy also recognises the role of shared mobility in supporting a more connected transport network, reflecting areas the BVRLA has consistently highlighted in its engagement with government.

Alongside this, the strategy reinforces the importance of data in enabling a more integrated transport system. Access to and use of data, including in-vehicle data, continues to be a key area of focus for the BVRLA, particularly as discussions on autonomous vehicles and the wider regulatory landscape develop.

The publication signals ongoing engagement between government and industry on how integration can be delivered in practice. The BVRLA will continue to contribute to these discussions, including how data access can support innovation and improved customer outcomes.
