The potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to improve fleet service, maintenance and repair (SMR) will be among the topics explored at the BVRLA Vehicle and Fleet Management (VFM) Forum on Thursday 19 November.
Taking place at Jaguar Land Rover in Leamington Spa, the Forum will feature a session from Fleet Assist on service and maintenance including how AI could help businesses improve vehicle uptime, manage costs and make better use of operational data.
This will draw on Fleet Assist's newly published white paper, The Future of AI in Fleet SMR, authored by Professor Yiannis Papadopoulos of the University of Hull and Fleet Assist Managing Director Vincent St Claire. The research sets out a three-stage roadmap for introducing AI into fleet maintenance, exploring how the technology could support better decision-making while retaining the importance of human expertise and oversight.
BVRLA Chief Executive Toby Poston contributed the foreword to the paper, highlighting the importance of testing AI applications against real operational challenges and building evidence of what works.
The Forum will also examine wider operational issues facing members. Amanda Cunningham from FMG will explore accident management trends and emerging challenges, while Keith Tabram from Kwik Fit will look at tyre trends, including differences between electric and conventional vehicles.
The event provides an opportunity for members to hear directly from industry specialists, share experiences and consider practical approaches to managing their fleets.
