Zero emission vehicle mandate becomes law

The government’s pathway towards all new cars and vans being zero emission by 2035 is now in place. The Zero Emission Vehicle sales mandate came into law last week.

The leasing sector is already operating more than 400,000 BEVs, representing more than a third of total cars on the BVRLA’s leasing fleet. The average age of cars on the fleet is just over three years, highlighting the role of the sector in feeding the used EV market with reliable second-hand cars.

To help members fully understand some of the nuances brought about by the mandate, the BVRLA is hosting an event in mid-February. The ZEV Mandate event will include a modelling exercise to show how OEMs might reach compliance with the legislation, looking at the impact this could have on the supply of vehicles into the UK and different channels. Members who are interested should request a space ASAP by emailing [email protected] due to limited availability.
