The Department for Transport (DfT) announced last week that the UK has reached the landmark of 75,000 public chargers.
The updated number of public chargers sits alongside over 680,000 domestic chargepoints in England alone.
A further 100,000 on-street and local chargers will be rolled out in the coming years including in smaller towns and rural areas – helping those without a driveway charge easily overnight – enabled by £381 million from the DfT’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund (LEVI).

The BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge Conference will be delving into the barriers and opportunities in EV adoption, looking at messaging and strategies to educate consumers.
Key discussions will also include the used BEV market, innovation on the horizon, home charging challenges, leveraging salary sacrifice schemes to broaden EV appeal and addressing the skills shortage.
The Conference is taking place on Wednesday 2 July at the QEII Centre in London. Themed ‘Changing Demand or Demanding Change?’, the event will explore the evolving landscape of fleet electrification, addressing both the shifting market forces and the policy interventions shaping the industry’s future.
