Trio of tax changes due soon

Vehicle Excise Duty, company car tax on double cab pick-up trucks, and emissions testing of hybrid vehicles, are all set to see changes from April 2025.

The changes were announced in the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget last October and see:

  • High VED increases for hybrid and ICE vehicles
  • Double cab pick-ups being reclassified as cars, not vans (in most cases)
  • Revised testing of Plug-in electric vehicles (PHEVs), causing their official CO2 values to change.

Each of these changes is likely to impact BVRLA members and their customers. In response, the BVRLA has created (or updated) a trio of resources to explain the changes and their likely implications.

Members can access each of the factsheets via the below links. The association will also be hosting a webinar later this month to talk through the changes in more detail and answer members' questions.

Registration details and timings will be confirmed and circulated shortly. Members are invited to submit any questions in the meantime, via the form at the foot of this page.
