The BVRLA’s Senior Policy Advisor Catherine Bowen has discussed the challenges fleets are facing with an EV charging infrastructure that stills presents “significant gaps”. The comments drive a blog for The UK Charging Infrastructure Symposium, an event she will speak at next month.
With the UK at a critical juncture in its journey towards decarbonisation, fleet electrification is central to this mission. In the blog, Catherine explains the role of fleets in electrification, addresses infrastructure challenges and the importance of engaging local authorities and energy providers across the UK.
“Infrastructure is the most pressing issue facing many fleet operators. Although the rollout of charging infrastructure has improved in recent years, with better reliability and coverage, there are still significant gaps—particularly for van fleets. Meeting different use case needs is a struggle. A lot of the charging has been put in place to support cars, but not always with vans in mind.”
The UK Charging Infrastructure Symposium will take place on 4 – 5 November at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon, Warwickshire. Catherine will be presenting ‘How to make charging fit for fleet’ at 12.10pm on 4 November.
