With a general election on the horizon, the sector’s voice needs to be heard now to shape the transport policies of tomorrow. This week’s Autumn Parliamentary Reception will see the launch of the BVRLA’s Future of Fleets Manifesto, outlining what BVRLA members need from the next government.
Parliamentarians, members, and industry stakeholders will gather in the House of Commons tomorrow (8 November) to attend the launch and share views on the future of transport. The Manifesto will ultimately help to ensure those making critical decisions recognise the vital role the fleet sector plays in road transport decarbonisation.
MPs of all parties and consituencies are invited to join. Members are encouraged to send an email to their local MP to ask them to attend and hear about our sector’s priorities.
Following on from the Road to Zero Report Card research, which analysed current progress towards zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), the Manifesto lists the key actions the government needs to take over the next few years to maintain the trajectory towards mass ZEV adoption.
To secure the transition to zero-emission road transport, the Manifesto has three key themes:
- Certainty: Reinforce the foundations
- Focus: Support commercial vehicles
- Fairness: Leave none behind.
After tomorrow’s launch, the Manifesto will be the primary tool to keep pushing decision makers to acknowledge the importance of the sector and provide the necessary support for widespread ZEV uptake across the UK.
