New Government, same challenges?

A record 335 new MPs entered parliament last month (52%), with the General Election generating an unprecedented churn of representatives. They all face a steep learning curve and will be hungry to engage with their constituents and industry representatives.

The BVRLA and its members cannot afford to miss that opportunity. As discussed in the latest episode of The Inside Track podcast, the first days of a new government set the tone. Getting the right issues on the radar is essential.

That is why the BVRLA has been building relationships with representatives from all parties over a sustained period and has already been in touch with leading Labour voices following the result of the General Election. The groundwork is in place, now momentum needs to build.

The association is calling on members to play their part. Through a simple-to-use online form, members can write directly to their local MP to invite them to the BVRLA’s Parliamentary Reception on Tuesday 10 September. The reception gives MPs the chance to meet with senior leaders from across vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management, hearing about the challenges they face and areas where the government can support.

The key focus of this September’s Parliamentary Reception will be the used EV sector. It is a developing market that finds itself facing an influx of supply. Armed with the latest data following market research commissioned by the BVRLA and Auto Trader, attendees at the Reception will be able to make a clear case to MPs and help them understand the scale of the challenge.

Members can invite their MP via the online tool. Only requiring a name and address, the tool can send a personalised email to the local MP in a matter of moments. It also allows the content to be edited for members that want to inject some of their own experiences into the letter too.
