The new BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear Standard and Guide for Cars has been finalised and is ready to pre-order.
The guide has been updated following a review and consultation with members and stakeholders during 2018. It provides more detail and clarity for drivers about the end of lease process, the concept of ‘fair wear and tear’, their responsibilities and the BVRLA dispute resolution service. It also gives more information about the type and quantity of chips, dents and scratches that are acceptable or unacceptable.
The BVRLA will be reviewing all customer complaints received by the Dispute Resolution service using the new BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear Standard from 1 May 2019.
Members are advised that they are fully prepared for the transition to the new Standard by:
- Communicating the new BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear Standard and guidelines to key customers, staff and service/supply partners in time for the 1 May deadline.
- Emailing [email protected] to request activation of the new link for Members with a current e-licence.
- Checking that master hire agreements and consumer contracts refer to the BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear guidelines ‘as published from time to time’.
