Motor Insurance Database compensation scheme

The Motor Insurance Database (MID), which is used by insurers and policyholders to update details on who is insuring a vehicle, underwent a much-needed upgrade.

Unfortunately, the upgrade did not go smoothly and there have been issues impacting members and their customers involving vehicles not showing on the database as being insured. In some cases, this has resulted in customers being pulled over by the Police for not having insurance.

There is a compensation scheme setup for cases where vehicles have been seized incorrectly for non-insurance and the fixes are being worked on by the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB), it is anticipating that all issues should be resolved shortly.
