The BVRLA inspection partners will shortly be contacting members to book their slots for 2024.
Partners for 2024 are Product Partnerships Ltd (PPL) for Leasing Broker members, and Prestige Fleet Servicing Ltd (The AA) for Rental members The BVRLA compliance team will also contact members directly.
Members should ensure that they have adequately prepared for their inspection, including ensuring that all policies and procedures, logs and registers are up to date.
To help prepare for an upcoming inspection, lessons can be learned from the trends of 2023. Areas frequently raised from the Rental Inspection programme include:
- Ensuring any personal data is removed from all vehicles once returned from a rental.
- Ensuring that all electrical equipment has a current PAT test PAT (Portable appliance testing) - HSE's answers to popular questions
- Ensuring that all RVSS literature is kept up to date Rental Vehicle Security Scheme guidance and code of practice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
Areas frequently raised from the 2023 Leasing Broker Inspection programme include:
- Ensuring member complaints procedures reference the BVRLA Alternative Dispute Resolution service available to customers BVRLA Making a complaint (ADR)
- Ensuring that compliance monitoring procedures are regularly updated when reviewed, along with all other logs and registers
- Ensuring that firms have updated their internal documentation in relation to Consumer Duty, in particular that their Statements of Responsibility reference the allocation of a Consumer Duty Champion BVRLA Consumer Duty.
