Increases due for data protection fees

A public consultation has been opened to gather views on proposed increases to the ICO data protection fee. Under the current proposal, a 37% increase will be applied across each of the existing three tiers.

The ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) provides advice and support to help organisations meet their obligations regarding data protection law. The proposed increases are to help fund the ongoing delivery of those services.

Proposed fees are as follows:

  • Tier 1: £40 rising to £55
  • Tier 2: £60 rising to £82
  • Tier 3: £2900 rising to £3979

UK-based organisations are being invited to share their views on the proposals before 26 September. Responses can be submitted via the government portal.

Members wishing to discuss further can share their views by emailing [email protected].
