The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is reminding motorists that the provider of International Driving Permits (IDPs) will change.
From 1 April 2024, IDPs will be available exclusively from participating PayPoint stores across the UK.
While many countries do not require an IDP, there are over 140 countries where an IDP is recommended or required if you’re planning to drive there. The countries needing an IDP include popular holiday destinations such as Turkey, Mexico, Canada and Australia. Motorists can check if they need an IDP for the country they are visiting at GOV.UK.
If travelling before 1 April 2024 in a country that requires an IDP, motorists will need to visit a participating Post Office branch. If they are travelling on or after 1 April 2024 then they will need to go to a participating PayPoint store. Further information on where those stores are located will be available on GOV.UK from 1 April.
