The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) will implement transitional arrangements for charging case fees to financial businesses before introducing fees for professional representatives from 1 April 2025.
Firms will have extra time to determine if a complaint is paused and out of jurisdiction or to settle it before fees apply. For eligible motor finance commission cases, the deadline is 30 April 2025, aligning with the pending Supreme Court judgment. These arrangements apply to complaints received between 7 February and 31 March 2025, under specific regulatory conditions.
FOS will directly notify affected businesses that are likely to have cases that meet the criteria or are a respondent to a complaint where the transitional arrangements apply.
