Equipping attendees with insights on how the Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate is impacting the sector, and what members can do to prepare, the Fleets in Charge Conference will begin with a session from Department for Transport senior officials, touching on the ZEV Mandate, legislation and policy concerns.
Throughout the full-day event, delegates will be able to have their questions answered by a mixture of keynote speakers and panellists.
The first panel session will offer a selection of the top leaders in the transition to EVs, tackling the meaty questions that are plaguing the sector. Panellists are Toby Poston of the BVRLA, Edmund King of The AA, Vicky Edmunds of EVA England, Vicky Read of Charge UK and Philippa Oldham of APCUK.
Ben Nelmes of New Automotive will then reflect on the ZEV Mandate and how the recent changes are likely to play out in reality. Ben will later join Thomas McLennan of the BVRLA and Steve Young of the ICDP to discuss how global politics and changes in the United States and Europe will impact the UK auto market and what the impact of tariffs and the ZEV Mandate targets could be.
Engaging hard to reach users will be the focus of the next panel, exploring the customers for whom firms must go above and beyond to make the shift. This panel features a group of experts who engage in hard conversations every day and develop strategies to change how we approach engagement. This session will be chaired by Laura Harvey of Auto Trader with Lisa Thomas of Motability Operations, Mark Newbury of Europcar, Jason Symes of Dealer Auction, Erin Baker, motor journalist and Auto Trader, and Tom Ray of Stellantis.
For firms to make the transition work for them and their customers, they need the right people with the right skills. Nowhere is this more tangible than in the aftersales sector, but it flows throughout every company trying to keep customers on the road and satisfied. The ‘Supercharging skills’ panel has deep insight into what keeps the industry running and the people needed to power it, from retention and upskilling through to getting new blood and empowering established experts. Chaired by Vincent St Claire of Fleet Assist, the panellists are Paul Binks of European Tyres Enterprises Ltd (ETEL), Jason Cranswick of Marubeni Auto Investment, Jenny Patten of Robert Bosch UK and Hayley Pells of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
The Conference is taking place on Wednesday 2 July at the QEII Centre in London.
