With Transport for London’s Direct Vision Standard now being enforced across London, the BVRLA was able to obtain a last-minute understanding for those companies who are in the process of purchasing compliant vehicles.
Whilst enforcement of the scheme began yesterday (1 March), there is a grace period available for HGV operators who can demonstrate that the vehicle is scheduled to have Safe System components added for the Direct Vision Standard.
The BVRLA has now received clarity that the same grace period applies if companies have compliant vehicles on order to replace non-compliant ones, but only if they are due for delivery before the end of May.
Direct Vision Standard guidance is available on the BVRLA website.
