The BVRLA will this week be writing directly to the primary contacts at all CV and Rental member organisations to confirm that their named security contact details will be provided to the Department for Transport.
Where there is no dedicated security contact, the name of the primary contact will be used.
These contact details are being shared as part of the requirements to adhere to the government’s Rental Vehicle Security Scheme. One of the stipulations of the scheme is to provide a named security contact.
The Government enlisted the BVRLA in November to act as the approved partner to monitor and assess compliance against its Rental Vehicle Security Scheme as of 1 January 2020. The BVRLA Codes of Conduct for rental and commercial vehicle members have been updated to incorporate the principals of the scheme.
The association will be monitoring compliance with the scheme through the association’s existing governance programme.
