The BVRLA leasing fleet grew 5.1% in 2021 to pass pre-pandemic levels, with vans continuing to drive recovery in the sector. The association’s latest Leasing Outlook Report, citing data to Q4 2021, also shows more positive signs as the growth of the car fleet accelerates.
In the face of mounting challenges around vehicle supply – which 94% of members report as a primary concern – the BVRLA van fleet reached new heights, adding around 80,000 vehicles to reach nearly half a million. That year-on-year growth of 18.8% again indicates an improving economy and highlights the essential role that vans play in keeping the UK’s supply chains healthy.
The crucial role that the sector plays in reducing the emissions of the road transport network is also highlighted in the latest report. With nearly half of vehicle orders being for plug-ins, the average emissions of the BVRLA car fleet are down to 102.7g/km, with the new car average improving by 21% year on year.
The latest Leasing Outlook report comes a week after the association shared the results of its latest Business Impact Survey.
