Latest Leasing Research

The BVRLA has published its latest Quarterly Leasing Survey results, showing that the overall car leasing market shrank for the first time since BVRLA started compiling this survey in 2014, with the total fleet leasing sector for cars and vans at 1.329m, a fall of 16,000 on the same period last year.

The fleet leasing market for cars (Contract hire and Finance lease only) continues to shrink, down by 4% year on year. It now stands at 948,000.

The BVRLA has published its latest Quarterly Leasing Survey results, showing that the size of the total business leasing sector for cars and vans has grown to 1.343 million, an increase of 8,000, up 0.6% year-on-year.

Total car leasing (all leasing types) grew by 2% year-on-year down from 6% in Q3 2017 and down 12% year-on-year.  Whist PCH grew by 20% in Q4 2017 the growth rate has continued to decline since it peaked in Q2 2016 at 55%.

The latest Leasing Broker research published by the BVRLA shows the total number of vehicles on contract is up 10% from the end of 2016 (Jan - Dec 2017) with the total number of new contracts in this period sitting at 98,129.

Total number of contracts is 287,683 a net increase of 25,573.

The sector continued to grow in the first half of 2017 but plateaued in the second half of the year.  Growth is most evident in the van sector, whilst for cars growth is driven largely by personal contract hire (PCH).

Key results Q3-2017:

• BVRLA business fleet leasing sector including contract hire and finance lease for both cars and vans is 1,338,000, 1% down on the previous quarter.

• Total car leasing fleet (all leasing types) was unchanged compared to the previous quarter, with core risk products including contract hire and finance falling by 1%. Growth in Personal Contract Hire has reduced from 7% in Q2 2017 compared to the previous quarter to 3% in Q3 2017.

Leasing Broker Research: Contracts up 10%

The latest Leasing Broker Research published by the BVRLA shows that the total number of vehicles on contract is up 10% from the end of 2016 (Jan-Jun 2017), with the total number of new contracts in this period sitting at 50,140.

Total number of contracts is 287,683, a net increase of 26,030.

The sector continues to grow, all be it at a slower pace, and this growth appears to be driven largely by Personal Contract Hire (PCH).

The BVRLA’s latest quarterly leasing survey results show that that total business leasing sector for cars and vans has grown to 1.350m.  This represents an annual growth of 7.6%.  The fleet is split between 979,000 cars and 371,000 LCV’s.  This represents a year on year growth of 2.4% in cars and 14.9% in LCV’s.

Total car leasing (all leasing types) grew by 8% year on year down from 11% in Q1 2017.  PCH although small compared to contract Hire grew by 36%.  Fleet leasing products including contract hire and finance lease grew by just 2%.
