Last week’s Queen Speech heard the announcement of 27 Bills and draft Bills which, according to Government, focuses on delivering Brexit and building a stronger, fairer country by strengthening our economy, tackling injustice and promoting opportunity.
The speech, which sets out the priorities for Government over the course of the next Parliament, included the announcement of an Automated and Electric Vehicles Bill, which will help the UK to continue to be a global leader in electric and automated road vehicles.
The Bill will provide for the installation of charging points for electric and hydrogen vehicles and will extend compulsory motor vehicle insurance to cover the use of automated vehicles. It will also allow the regulatory framework to keep pace with the fast-evolving technology for electric cars.
Technology, data and changing business models will all be topics of discussion at the BVRLA’s Annual Fleet Technology Congress taking place in Oxfordshire on Wednesday 5 July. A great opportunity to hear the latest thinking on fleet technology.
