The website of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association
The BVRLA Data Survey is the market leader in its field, providing the most comprehensive data on residual values, service maintenance and repair budgets, rentals and excess mileage.
Every possible permutation of data is displayed in a variety of formats that allows direct comparison with the same model, similar models and other manufacturers. You can even compare data from CAP and International Decision Systems forecasts.
At BVRLA’s July RVR forum, Manheim Remarketing highlighted changes in the age and mileage parameters of fleet vehicles. Now closer to the 4yr/80K mile profile than the typical 3yr/60K scenario, we decided to review both RV parameters in our report.
Average RVs for both diesel and petrol models have seen the first drop since December 2009 in both 3yr/60K and 4yr/80K parameters – albeit by very small percentages. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues into next month’s survey. The average RV for hybrids on the other hand has significantly declined since April, dropping by 3.5% in the 3yr/60K graph and 3.87% for the 4yr/80K parameter in July. Members may be seeing hybrids as the vehicle of choice for many more fleet customers.

The survey is a web-based application covering passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Navigation is achieved through a dynamic search facility which allows vehicles to be located by sector or manufacturer and displayed in a league table or company summary.
These key performance indicators cover all fleet derivatives and are available over five age and mileage profiles: two year 40,000 miles, three year 60,000/90,000 miles and four year 100,000/120,000 miles. Subscribers are also benchmarked against CAP and IDS predictive data for the residual values for all of these profiles. The application calculates the IMV (Industry Mean Value) which is a simple average of all the subscribers' data excluding the guide valuations.
The SMR figures are benchmarked by MCM MaintBook which is the leading provider of SMR data to the industry and the IMV is also displayed. Rentals and excess mileage are featured along with the IMV in the same format.
A screen-based report can be downloaded to a spreadsheet and printed in PDF format; both are unprotected and can be used in conjunction with other data. Reports can be formatted to facilitate tracking of individual derivatives which remains in a basket for future surveys. These can include as many vehicles as you like and each user can share and create their own reports.
